| What happens if I drop my present Part D plan because of insuficient use. Then, what happens if I were to reenroll at a later date (possiblly in 3 or 4 years?). Niether my Wife nor myself have even come close to the $250.00 initial deductible (even when considered together) - so the Part D plan seems a waste of money at this point. |

Your question is one that many people are also asking. In theory, if you drop Medicare Part D coverage, you will pay an increased premium based on each month that you are without Medicare Part D coverage. The Premium Penalty amount is based (in part) on the price of the Part D plans and the penalty increases each year. Some people last year enrolled in a slightly more expensive plan that had no initial deductible (the $250 you mentioned). My suggestion is to either (1) consider enrolling in the most inexpensive plan with a deductible or (2) the most inexpensive plan with no deductible or (3) hope that the government does away with the Part D Premium Penalty.
