It is our understanding that it sometimes takes up to a month for the subsidy to be sent to the insurance carrier from Medicare/Medicaid.
Once this information is sent to the insurance carrier (and only when it is sent from Medicare/Medicaid) will the premium be reduced.
If you have a letter stating the exact co-pays, you can send this letter to the insurance carrier and they may at least change your co-pay in their pharmacy system.
For example, If you have Humana coverage, you can call 1-800-448-6262, state "Member" when asked, and then choose option 3. This will send you to a pharmacy representative. Each representative has their own fax number, so just ask the person for their fax number. Once the fax is received, he/she can enter the information in the pharmacy system. As said above, this will only change your co-pay. Your premium can only be change when the information is sent directly from Medicare/Medicaid.
